Thread: Split Stay

    Default Split Stay

So after 7 straight trips to CSA, this past trip we decided to do a trading places. After the first one in which we both thorough enjoyed (private beach area), we went back a second time. Now as we plan our next trip we are talking about a split stay (total stay of 10 days, Wed-Sat). We would start at Negril (Wed-Mon)and end at CSA. When you check out do you immediately move to your next resort or can you spend as much time as you like befor moving on? We would most likely like to spend the day at Negril before relocating. Irie!

    Hi louieandsusie,

We've done split stays a few times and think it's really the best...like getting two vacations in one! When you check in you'll let the first resort know that you'll be moving to the second resort at check-out. The day before check-out you'll talk with the Front Desk or Guest Services folks and set up a time to transfer. You'll be able to check out when you're ready, keeping in mind there is a check-out time (which can be made later), and they'll take you over to the other resort. At that time it's vacation time all over again!!

    Have fun!!

Default To Split or not to Split

OK, definitely want to go to CSS and planning to book for next spring. First time to Couples, but not first time to Jamaica or all-inclusive. Normally do a competitor, but have heard so many amazing things about Couples that we've decided we have to give it a try.

In order to decrease the per-day-fixed-cost (in dollars and time) of the travel, we like to go for at least a week, and usually try to make it about 9 days - which is what we're planning for this upcoming trip to Couples. Question is whether we should do all 9 days at CSS or do a split. Was originally thinking of splitting between CSS and CN, but with the travel time between them, you would end up pretty much losing a full day, which makes no sense IMHO. So I'm now thinking that maybe we should split between CSS and CTI as they're only about 5 minutes apart. Seems like you could easily transfer locations and have little to no impact to beach time, which is after all the whole point, amiright?

So, what's the group think? Should we plan on all 9 days at CSS or would splitting between CSS and CTI make more sense?

If the answer is that splitting time makes sense, how should we do that? Start at CTI, then CSS or vice versa? How much time at each? 5 days and 4 days? 3 and 6?

Open to any and all suggestions from y'all as this group is clearly populated by world-renowned Couples experts. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi TimDad100,

Welcome to the Couples family. CSS is one of our favorite Couples Resorts. It is truly an amazing place with many things to do and places to explore right on the property.

We've done a split between Ochi and Negril once before and would recommend against it. Because of the distance it was like giving up a half day of vacation time. We typically opt for doing splits between resorts on the same side of the island so as to decrease the impact on our vacation. A split between CSS and CTI would be good (we've done this before) as there is significant differences between the two resorts...making it worth doing, without losing a lot of vacation time.

Most AI resorts operate on a 7 day cycle. That is, what they do this Monday...they'll do next (with some variance). Staying at a resort for more than 7 days could get a little monotonous. Doing a 9-day split stay (i.e. 4/5, 3/6, etc.) would be a great way to experience both resorts and get 2 vacations in one. We have always gone with the premise of starting with our least favorite, in your case "second choice" resort and finishing at the resort we like best, in your case this could be the one you really wanted to go to in the first place. We've done 9 days before and use the 4/5 split to get the most from each.

Let us caution you that asking for suggestions (a.k.a. "advice") on this message board is like asking people what kind of ice cream they like and which you should get. We all have our preferences and are willing to give suggestions. But, just like the bowl of ice cream...you have to eat it. So our advice is to do what best suits the two of you and enjoy your vacation however you guys choose to do it!!

    Enjoy!

I've never done a split (wish we could)! I would do a css-csa or cn split. It doesn't take all day, just leave early in the morning. 5 and 4 days for sure!

I would do the split in the same area. We did the Negril Ochi split once and you lose a lot of time, packing, bags, checkout, waiting, transpo, check in, unpacking. We were transferring from S resort to CN so they made us go back to the Airport first.

We usually try to get the 1st AA flight from CLT to Mobay and that gets in around 11, but it is after 3 before we are on the beach and it gets dark early. They make you leave 4-5 hours before your flight on departure day so on a split 9 day trip you are going to be traveling for 3 of those days

If I remember correctly our first 3 or 4 times to Couples had always been to CSA. Then we decided to try CTI and after our CTI visit, the "Mrs" and I both agreed CSA is ultimately just the place for us. All of our times we gone on said trips we never tried a split stay BUT for the first time 2 yrs ago we wanted to check out CSS and though CSA will always be our first choice, CSS almost topped CSA just because the property is breathtaking.

If CSS only had the beach CSA has, then I think CSS would be our favorite but just as the property at CSS is breathtaking, the beach alone at CSA is equally unbeatable. SO now all our return trips MUST involve split stays between CSA and CSS so we get to enjoy the best of both worlds.
