    Default January Weather

Thinking about a trip in January 2017. Have been in the summer and in September. Just wondering about the rain in January and if it gets much cooler in Jan and Feb than the rest of the year.

    Welcome to Couples

We typically go in February which is supposed to be the coldest time of the year in Jamaica.

January and February is not supposed to be the rainy season. However, you are in a tropical paradise. You can get some liquid sunshine anytime. We have seen some occasional rain. We have had some trips where it didn't rain at all. There is always something to do even if it is raining. On our last trip to Couples we found a bulletin board that had an alternate rainy day activity schedule. When it does rain, it doesn't get cold.

I said this is the coldest time of the year. However it isn't really cold. The daytime highs will get from the low to mid 80's fahrenheit. Very pleasant. The overnight lows will get from the low to mid 70s fahrenheit. We never felt the need for long sleeved shirts or pants in the evening. For the evening activities we were comfortable with shorts, a light shirt, and sandals. Most times we wouldn't want anything warmer or we would become wringing wet from sweat when we go dancing.

The pools are not heated, but they really don't need it. The time of year we go they are a little cool but plenty warm enough to enjoy. The ocean temperature will be very pleasant, around the upper 70's to low 80's fahrenheit. Warm enough you can walk right in without any shock.

For us the weather is really a treat this time of year. We live in a northern climate. We have driven to the airport in blizzards hoping our flight would leave. There were times we have left for Jamaica when the temperature was twenty below zero fahrenheit. One of our favorite things is that warm rush of air as we get off of the airplane at Montego Bay.

    Enjoy your stay in paradise.

The water is definately cooler in Feb! Temps are awesome and wish we could afford to go back then. I'd say less rain than the summer months.

We usually go to CN the last week of January, Temps are mid 80's during the day and mid 70's at night. If there is any rain, usually doesn't last longer than 1 - 1 1/5 hours. In 7 trips we've hardly had any rain. 88 days to go!

We always go to CN at the end of January. The temps are usually 83-87 during the day and mid 70's at night. As for rain, if there is any, we've only experienced afternoon showers that last maybe an hour, but never had any for a whole day. We're heading back January 26, 2017.

We have been to CSA 10 times, all in June. Next year, 2017, we are going in July (Lobster!) and taking a second trip in December 2017. We are very much looking forward to the warm weather in Negril in December for a change of pace in our vacation schedule. And the best thing about our December trip, the lower rates allowed us to stay for 10 days!
    See you at the beach!
