What song............?
What song instantly reminds you of Couples?
For me, it is Could you be Loved? by Bob Marley
I only have to hear the opening bars and I am back at CN.
What does this for you? Only ONE song allowed!

Same artist, but "Three Little Birds".
"Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right.
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', ("This is my message to you-ou-ou:")
Singin': "Don't worry 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry (don't worry) 'bout a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!"
Rise up this mornin',
Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds
Pitch by my doorstep
Singin' sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin', "This is my message to you-ou-ou:"
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing gonna be all right. Don't worry!"
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing" - I won't worry!
"'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right" - I won't worry!
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right."
Singin': "Don't worry about a thing, oh no!
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!

I agree with NeedBluWater on Marley's Three Little Birds, it's definitely in our top three along with "Waiting in Vain" and Jimmy Cliff's "We All Are One".
I drive my wife nuts starting about 6 weeks before we head to Couples between the 100+ song on my Ipod and the Reggae Station (appropriately named the "Joint") on Sirius/XM playing, every day, all day at home, in the car, garage, airport, on the plane, in the shuttle to Couples....

Anything by Bob reminds me of Jamaica but the song that reminds me of Couples has to be Sweet Caroline! I think we sang that song every night in the piano bar at CSA.

I love both those songs, and am also swayed by "don't rock my boat" by Mr. Marley!

It's got to be 3 little birds.
The day that our final payment was due for the first trip without our kids (the oldest is 21), my wife and I were headed to the doctor to get the results of my lung biopsy. I put the CD in, and played 3 little birds.
Although it was not lung cancer, it was an infection often seen in cancer patients, so I was sent to a hematologist/oncologist for more tests.
In the midst of all this, I found out that I would need open heart surgery soon to replace my aortic valve. With the stress of the health issues, my wife wanted to cancel the trip.
A week before we left, we went to get the results of the PET scan (Don't Worry about a thing playing on the CD player). When we were told that no cancer was found, my wife's response was, "OK, let's go to Jamaica!".
Wouldn't you know it, on the bus to Couples, the driver put in the Legends CD, and 3 Little Birds again reminded us not to worry.
When we got back, my wife remarked on how glad she was that we went to Couples. She needed that vacation from worry.
In a week and a half, I'll put that same CD in as we drive to the hospital for my surgery. I won't worry, because every little thing is gonna be alright.

The song that will always remind me of Couples is I Can See Clearly Now. We were at CSA in September and one day on the beach, the beach musicians came by my lounge chair and sang it. It was the perfect song for a bright, bright sunshiny day. I was so happy sitting on that beach and listening to those musicians. Somehow I'd never realized it was a reggae song. I will never hear it the same way again.

Is This Love
Probably one of Bob's most popular songs but Is This Love does it for me.
My husband and I had picked a different song for our wedding at CN this past June but forgot to burn it on a CD. Keisha the wedding coordinator suggested Is This Love instead. I immediately loved the song and am so glad that was the choice to "walk down the aisle to!

I can't listen to "The Piano Man" without thinking of Ultimate Chocolate's beaming smile and kind soul.
But the song that reminds me the most of Couples, oddly enough is Earth, Wind and Fire's "September".
You see, we were dining late at Patois Patio on rainy evening and someone "stole" our umbrella from the stand. A sudden shower caught us on the way back to our Atrium suite. Not wanting my wife to get totally soaked, I gallantly removed my shirt and gave it to her to use as an impromptu umbrella. Then the sudden shower quickly became a monsoon - like deluge of epic proportions, and we were both instantly drenched in a warm tropical rain.
Laughing about our predicament, we just gave up and danced in the rain while the house band played "September" off in the distance.
I'd really like to thank the people who stole our umbrella.nobody's favorite poster

Smile Jamaica by Bob Marley. Of course just about anything reggae does it for me, but this song is perfect!
Feeling out, feeling down:
This feeling wouldn't leave me alone.
Then up came-a one that said (hey, Dread):
"Hey, Dread, fly, Natty Dread, and smile!"
You're in Jamaica: C'mon and smile!
(In Jamaica, y'all) Get it together, y'all!
(In Jamaica) Get it together, now!
In Jamaica, y'all.
Soulful town, soulful people:
Said, I see you're having fun,
Dancin' to the reggae rhythm,
Oh, island in the sun:
Oh, smile!

for me it has to be "I can see clearly now the rain has gone". Bless them, The Sunshine Mento Band picked up a couple of backing singers one day when they were at CN for a wedding. what a blast!

It has been almost 3 years since my wife and I were at CSS and we are both hoping to get back soon. Unfortunately, our work and holiday schedules do not mix very well. I lurk on this message board here and there, and couldn't residt adding the following song, because it makes me think of home every time that I hear it.
"Lucky I'm in Love" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait
Do you hear me
Talking to you
Across the water across the deep blue ocean
Under the open sky oh my, baby I'm trying
Boy I hear you in my dreams
I hear your whisper across the sea
I keep you with me in my heart
You make it easier when life gets hard
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
They don't know how long it takes
Waiting for a love like this
Every time we say goodbye
I wish we had one more kiss
I wait for you I promise you, I will
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love in every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday
And so I'm sailing through the sea
To an island where we'll meet
You'll hear the music, feel the air
I put a flower in your hair
And though the breeze is through trees
Move so pretty you're all I see
As the world keep spinning round
You hold me right here right now
I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend
Lucky to have been where I have been
Lucky to be coming home again
I'm lucky we're in love every way
Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed
Lucky to be coming home someday

"Go To Work, Don't Be a Jerk"; Rasta Ralphie.
My wife bought one of his CD's and she sometimes plays it for her classes at school while they work. The kids love it and it reminds her of the fun of being in Jamaica.
For me it is "Sloop John B" or "Kokomo". The Beach Boys have always put my mind on the beach since I was just a kid and hadn't even seen a beach yet.
Oh, a bit off topic, but happy birthday John Lennon today. A gentle soul and genius taken from us way too soon. I am sure that he and Marley have had much to discuss in the great hereafter. Rest in peace my brothers.
