Guest Spotlight Series: The Muirs

Hi Couples family,

It's that time again, for another Guest Spotlight. This week we are featuring Ron and Liz Muir from the UK. They are full of love, life and a sense of adventure, and are proud to call Couples Resorts their second home. I thoroughly enjoyed reading their story and invite you to meet the Muirs!

Carrie: How did you two meet?
The Muirs: We met when we were 12 years old through Lizzie's sister. The minute I saw Liz it was love at first sight, although Liz was not having any of it and was determined we were not a match. It took me awhile to convince Liz that we were a match made in heaven. I lost my dad when I was 13 years old and I turned to Liz for comfort and support at that time and we have been together ever since (42 years together and we have been married 32 years of that). We are soul mates.

Carrie: How many times have you been to Couples Resorts, and which properties did you visit?
The Muirs: We have been to all four beautiful Couples Resorts 16 times in total, 3 times to CTI once to CN. Counting this July it will be up to twice to CSA and last but not least 11 times to CSS and as you can see which one is our favourite we call home. I got asked once by both Lee Issa and Gary Stevens which was our favourite and without hesitation (which they said they found strange) I said CSS . All properties have special memories for guests that's why like us they keep going back again and again.

Carrie: How has Couples played a role in your personal love story?
The Muirs: We have visited many many places in our life together and until we came across Couples it was very rare we would go to the same place again. The first time we visited the Couples Resort that all changed from the minute we arrived we were made to feel like part of an extended family. Never before had we been made to feel so welcome as guests it was like the whole place had been sprinkled in fairy dust (Liz's Words) it was magical, romantic and everywhere you went on the resort you were greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Then as we returned as repeat guests we were amazed that the staff had remembered our names, and everywhere we went we were welcomed home and it has now got so difficult to even consider anywhere else, we cannot think of going anywhere else because we miss our friends and our extended family and of course our second home. We explained this to the management one time when they asked what made us come back and we said "it was like we had a pause button on leaving and we just pushed play when we got back again".

Carrie: In your opinion, what makes Couples so unique?
The Muirs: Couples has and still does bring out the romance in us both, so much so that in January 2013 we chose CSS to renew our vows. It would not be the same if our son and daughter with their partners were not with us so I made a decision after a few rum's to pay for the four of them to celebrate with us, Couples staff and the location was even better than when we first got married, our son and daughter now know why we always go on about Couples... " our home from home".

Carrie: What are the top three pieces of advice you would give to a first-time guest at Couples?
The Muirs: 1) To take the opportunity to use all the facilities that Couples have to offer: diving, windsurfing, catamaran cruises, Dunn's River Falls... the list goes on. 2) To take some time to get to know the staff - they are awesome. 3) Join the social media groups and find out as much information as you can before you go so it gives you an idea of what to expect when you get there.

I think the title "Couples" says it all really. It's a place where two people can go and find that romantic side that maybe in their everyday lives they forget. I know for us, Couples is where we can focus just on the two of us. We enjoy our interaction with other guests especially the ones that we meet yearly or we can find some romantic little hideaway on the resort where it is just the two of us, but for us Couples is a magical place unlike any other resort we have ever been to, and of course the staff add to this ambiance.

Carrie: In a single word, describe what Couples means to the two of you.
The Muirs: Romance.

Carrie: Which staff members or fellow guests do you most look forward to seeing when you return?
The Muirs: We normally visit Couples twice a year and as we come from the UK we tend to stay for 14 nights. There are too many wonderful staff members to list individually and I would not like to miss anybody out, but can I just say that no matter which Couples Resorts property you choose to stay at, everyone from the groundsman to the management nothing is too much trouble... "No Problem" is what you will hear a lot.

Carrie: Fill in the blank: Our ideal day at Couples consists of _______________
The Muirs: Fresh coffee and juice on our balcony around 7 AM to take in the wonderful views, a walk to the Pallazina for a wonderful breakfast, visit to Sunset Beach for the day then back to our room to get ready for dinner, pre-drinks at the martini bar before a wonderful dinner at Casanovas restaurant, down to the balloon bar to meet up with the many repeat guest and friends we have made for the entertainment and then into the balloon bar to finish off our evening around the piano and singing with Trevor.

Thank you Ron and Liz for sharing your love story with Couples. We look forward to seeing you again soon

One love,
