Carrie: Where are you from?
Ellis Family: We live in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It's a pretty city of 124,000, on the shores of Lake Ontario.

Carrie: How did you two meet?
Ellis Family: I was a graphic designer at the Military base here in Kingston, and Paul was a high school Math teacher. In fact, high school is where we first met, 37 years ago. Paul was my high school math teacher! After both having been divorced, we met again 27 years later online. Paul didn't recognize my picture, but sent me a message as our profiles were very similar, in that we both loved to travel. I responded with "Mr. Ellis?". We had our first date a week later and have been together ever since and married now for almost 8 years. Now that we are both retired, we spend as much time together as possible, and try to make the most of each day as it comes.

Carrie: How many times have you been to Couples Resorts, and which properties?
Ellis Family: We just came back from trip number 18 to Couples. Swept Away was our first property and since then have been back to CSA one more time, to CN once, CTI twice (when CSS was full) and CSS 13 times. We have enjoyed all 4 Couples resorts, but it is Couples Sans Souci that has stolen our hearts.

Carrie: How has Couples played a role in your personal love story?
Ellis Family: We met later in life. Along with that goes the realization that we are not going to have 50 or 60 years together. We live by the philosophy that life is short, and you never know what is coming around the next corner in life, health wise. Since we both love to travel in the winter, we try to get away as often as possible. We would go to one resort, enjoy it, then move on to another next trip, and so on. And then, we went to CSA. A number of times throughout that trip we commented to each other that Couples really knows how to run a resort! But the best was yet to come. When we went to CSS for the first time, and looked out over the Balloon Bar terrace to the beautiful ocean view, we knew that we had found something special, indeed! From that moment, our love affair with Sans Souci began, and has gotten nothing but stronger ever since. Every time we plan a trip "back home", we get so excited weeks before we leave that it's difficult to sleep. It is difficult to put into words how this resort affects us, but while there we feel so very relaxed, we marvel at the amazing views from every vantage point, we enjoy so much re-connecting with the wonderful staff, and we often find ourselves just looking at each other, smiling from ear to ear, and saying how much we love it here! It's come to mean so much to us that we renewed our vows here 2 years ago for our 5th anniversary. When it unfortunately comes time to leave, we both find it difficult to hold back the tears, and when we get back home to Ontario, we start looking at dates for our next trip back. Couples Sans Souci is our "little piece of paradise", it's our "happy place", it's the place where our love for each other, and our love for Jamaica, continues to grow.

Carrie: What are the top three pieces of advice you would give to a first-time guest at Couples?
Ellis Family: First and foremost, get to know the staff, they are some of the nicest, most genuine people you'll ever meet. Second, use social media to your advantage...join in the conversations on the Couples message board and also on the Facebook Fan Pages, guests are very helpful in answering any and all questions. Third, enjoy every second of the experience and discover what each property has to offer.

Carrie: In your opinion, what makes Couples so unique?
Ellis Family: We've been to a lot of different resorts all over the Caribbean and have never met staff anywhere that compare to that of Couples resorts. On our 2nd visit to CSS the staff remembered our names and that had a profound effect on us. We have become very close to many of the staff at CSS, so much so that it truly is like going "home" each time we return. Couples is a well run company, with management visible and approachable for any concerns that guests may have.

Carrie: In a single word, describe what Couples means to the two of you.
Ellis Family: We are going to "coin" a word for this one - Romanceful (romantic and peaceful)

Carrie: Which staff members or fellow guests do you most look forward to seeing when you return?
Ellis Family: We are truly blessed to have gotten to know so many of the staff that we couldn't name just a few. As we make our way to breakfast or the beach every morning we are stopped by many of the staff members for a little chat and a friendly smile. It really does take quite a while to get anywhere on the resort without hugs and conversation, and we love it! Couples is not only about being together as a couple, but its also about reuniting with friends. Weve met several guests over the years who have become great friends, some so much so that we all try to schedule our trips during the same week. We just got back from a very spontaneous 5 nights to surprise some friends we met last year!

Carrie: Fill in the blank: Our ideal day at Couples consists of _______________
Ellis Family: An early morning stroll around the property taking pictures, followed by tea on the balcony listening to the birds, leisurely breakfast at Palazzina, off to sunset beach for a day of lazing about while sand gravity sets in, swimming, sunning, reading, napping, watching the sunset, dinner out, then maybe a game of pool and finally relaxing on the balcony listening to the music from the Balloon Bar and the sounds of the tree frogs. Repeat!
